46 years ago - 1979, Mother Teresa Wins the Nobel Peace Prize

Born, Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. She believed her calling was to serve those that no one else would. Founding the Missionaries of Charity in 1950 she sought to care for the poorest of the poor. Regardless of criticism from some western media she remains to be a paragon of selflessness and humanitarian action.
