Where did my memories go after the update?
The new version of Little Memory keeps your memories on your iPhone instead of on our server, so the first time it opens it asks whether to bring your memories over. If you tapped Not now or Start a new journal, the app opens to an empty diary, and it can look as though everything is gone.
Nothing is gone. Every memory you wrote is still saved on your account, exactly as you left it. Importing only reads from the account and never changes it, so your memories there are safe whatever happens in the app.
Bring your memories over
- Open Little Memory and go to Settings.
- Look at the Account section.
- If it says Logged in with your email, the app already knows your account. Tap it, then tap Import memories.
- If it says Restore from account, tap that and sign in with the email and password you used for Little Memory. If you don’t remember the password, Forgot password? on that screen sends a reset link that opens the app for you.
- On the Import memories screen, tick the two boxes and tap Start import, then Replace and import to confirm.
- Leave the app open while it works. A large diary can take a few minutes, and photos come down after the words.
When it finishes, your days are back where they were.
If you already wrote in the empty diary
Importing replaces whatever is in the app with the memories from your account, so anything you wrote since the update would be replaced. If there are days you’d like to keep, copy them out first (a note, an email to yourself) and add them again once the import is done. It’s a small step, and it’s the only one where something could be lost.
What changes after you import
- New memories live in the app and sync between your devices with iCloud.
- They no longer sync back to the old website, so the email reminders stop.
